“My husband is cheating!”

Nelly, 50, is a strong woman. An executive In a Fortune 500 company. She married her second husband 17 years ago. They worked together on everything. She helped raise his children and was his sounding board and right hand in his prosperous business.

She was taken by surprise when two years ago, her husband informed her that he found a 25 year old Asian woman whom he intended to bring to the United States and marry. Nelly was hurt and furious. She was forced to move out of their mansion and leave behind the life they built together. She knows she doesn’t have any say in the situation. Her problem is she can’t move on with her life, so she wanted to see their past life together.

I asked her to relax and allow the past life memories to come to the surface.
“I’m a young boy on a farm in Scotland in 1899” she recalled. “Mom is nice, but Dad is stern” she added. “How do you guys get along?” I asked. “He forces me to work on the farm, which I hate. Ah, I have a younger sister. We love each other.” There was a smile on Nelly’s face. “What happens next?” I asked. “My mom is very sick. Now my sister is getting sick too” she started weeping. “What does the doctor say?” I inquired. “Many people got sick in the village,” she said and then got quiet for a few minutes. “They died. This plague killed them” she told me in tears. “So it’s just you and him now, right?” I moved the story forward. “I hate him. At 17 I left him and moved to the city, becoming a bank teller” she said proudly.

“Nice. So how do you like it?” I asked. “I like the women, they like me too” she remembered with a smile. “Anything serious?” I inquired. “Not really. I like to have fun. Lots of them come to the bank; if you know what I mean” she responded.

“What’s next?” I forwarded the story. “At 30 I meet this beautiful woman, who owns a small motel. Strong. Independent. Ah, she’s an orphan. We got married.” she adds one more piece to the puzzle.
“And how does being married feel for our playboy?” I teased. “Fun. Family. Food. Just like with my Mom on the farm. We don’t have kids. She works long hours, brings in more money than me. I spend a lot of time on the sofa. She’s not happy with my lack of motivation, career wise. Lots of arguing in the house. I start hooking up with other women, just for the fun of it. My wife is so serious and demanding” Nelly explained.

“How about your Dad? Are you in touch with him?” I opened another line of questioning. “No. For 30 years now” she answered emotionless. “And why not?” I poked. “I hate him! Because of him my Mom and sister died!” she burst out. “What do you mean?” I was surprised. “He didn’t have the money to pay for the medications, so they died!” she replied. “Did he gamble or drink his money away?” I asked. “No.” was the answer. “It’s all his fault!” Nelly yelled with the aggression of a 15 year old. I decided to leave it alone. For now.

“How is the domestic front?” I changed the topic. “My annoying wife nags me to go visit my aging Dad. She says I’m not nice and that he has no one else. I found out, that she, who lost her parents at an early age, secretly visits my Dad and cares for him. She cooks and cleans and keeps him company as if he was her own Dad.” Nelly explained. “So, do you go see him?” I asked. “I started visiting him, not too often” she replied.

“Let’s revisit a significant scene in your past life” I suggested. “I’m in bed with a woman who is not my wife. My wife steps in, catches us red handed.” I held my breath. “She pulls out a gun and shoots the lover straight in the heart. I didn’t know she was such a good shooter.” Nelly added. “How about you?” I asked. “She shot me in the balls. Wow, this is so painful!” she cried out.

“What’s next?” I was curious. “I’m bedridden and my wife takes care of me. She could have killed me too, but I guess she loves me a lot, so she just wanted to teach me a lesson.” Nelly explained.
“5 years later, I died. That’s it.” She said coldly. “Let’s take a few deep breaths, identify the characters in the story and see what we can learn” I asked her. “My Dad, who I alienated for 30 years, was just a poor potato farmer; who loved his wife and daughter deeply. The problem was that the villagers stopped buying potatoes and spent most of their money buying medicine. That’s why a lot of the people healed. But my Dad couldn’t afford the medicine. I wrongfully accused him.” Nelly said with regret.
“How about your wife?” I inquired. “The room she caught me in, was in her motel. There was a part of me that wanted to be caught, wanted her attention. She was always busy with her business, and I didn’t feel appreciated.” Nelly explained.

“And who is who today?” I wondered. “My Dad in the past life is my husband today. This is probably why today’s money is extremely important to him. He is very wealthy because he doesn’t want to be in a situation again where he can’t save his family. And I thought he was just greedy! He is traumatized by his past life!” Nelly was amazed.

“And who is your wife?” I wondered. “This is the Asian woman. Wow, I was married to her! That’s why today she takes such good care of my husband, who is more than 30 years older. Today she has no education, money or ambition. It is the exact opposite of the past. She doesn’t hate me today, the way I hate her. It is very similar to the Scottish past life” more insights came to the surface.
“And how do you feel now?” I asked Nelly upon awakening.

“First off, I was the cheating one in the past, so now I experience how it feels to be on the other end of the stick. Secondly, I can now totally understand the attraction between my husband and the Asian woman, and I don’t blame either of them. I feel relieved, understanding that this chapter of my life is over, and now I have to attract the next partner into my life, that probably, we had met before, in a previous life” she added with a smile.
